With the Oregon club hockey team’s season ending last week, here’s a recap of what happened this season:

With a schedule loaded with skilled teams, the Ducks came out of the gate facing some of their toughest opponents. However the Ducks are excited and optimistic heading into the second half of the season.
Oregon hockey blows past Washington 7-2, sweeps I-5 Cup home games
Daily Emerald, Hockey, Recaps, University of OregonFor the second night in a row, Oregon club hockey faced off against the Washington Huskies for game 2 of its annual I-5 Cup series. In what usually are close games — last year’s cup was determined by a shootout after splitting the four-game series — the Ducks sailed through the Huskies’ defense, winning the two games 9-3 and 7-2.
Oregon hockey gearing up to #TakeBackTheCup
Daily Emerald, Hockey, Stories & Features, University of OregonFriday, Oct. 17, the Ducks hockey team will face Washington, the team’s biggest rival in the league, in the home opener at Lane Events Center. Each year, both teams square off in a brutal four-game series for the I-5 Cup.
Last year, Washington won in a shootout after splitting the series 2-2. The year before, Oregon took it home for the first time in four years after an overtime victory.
“We don’t play Oregon State in hockey,” senior goaltender Trevor Peterson said. “This is really our biggest rival. We have the I-5 Cup and that’s our thing, our big game.”
Unsatisfied with its brief time with the cup, the team has spent the last month releasing Youtube videos with the hashtag #TakeBackTheCup to pump up fans, and themselves, for the start of the regular season.
Ducks hockey splits Washington series, loses I-5 Cup in shootout

After losing 3-2 in an extremely penalty-riddled Game 4, thereby splitting the four-game series, Oregon and Washington turned to a five-man shootout to determine who would ultimately take home the I-5 Cup.
Ducks hockey takes home I-5 Cup for first time since ’08-’09 with overtime win
Hockey, Lane Today, Recaps, University of OregonThis past weekend, Ducks hockey took the University of Washington in Eugene for games three and four of the I-5 Cup.
The I-5 Cup is held annually between the two rival teams, with two games being played in Washington and two games being held at home. The winner took home both bragging rights and a trophy to call their own until the next year.
The series started in Washington, where both the Huskies and the Ducks came away with a win a piece.
