In the Pac-8 Championship, No. 3 Oregon hockey fell to No. 1 Utah, 5-1. Both teams were evenly matched at 5-on-5 play, but frequent penalties cost the Ducks the opportunity to pull ahead. Of the 47 penalties in the game, 31 of them belonged to Oregon. There were 134 penalty minutes total.

Oregon hockey advances to Pac-8 Finals after win over USC
Daily Emerald, Hockey, Recaps, University of OregonIn the second round of the Pac-8 tournament, No. 3 Oregon (13-10, 6-4 Pac-8) faced off against No. 2 USC (13-9-1, 10-5 Pac-8) for a spot in tomorrow’s Pac-8 finals. Even though USC had the higher seed, Oregon got the win and eliminated the Trojans, 4-1. While it was only USC’s first game of the tournament, it was Oregon’s second. The previous night, the Ducks eliminated Cal after a 6-1 victory.

Danny Cockriel ends final year of Ducks hockey after four years as starting goaltender
Daily Emerald, Hockey, Stories & Features, University of OregonEngulfed in a snowsuit and padded with his helmet and gloves, a three-year-old, purple-cheeked Danny Cockriel waddled onto ice for the first time at his local rink in Englewood, Colorado. Cockriel was a member of the Learn to Skate program and he, like the other members, fell. A lot.
Every time he hit the ice, he’d look up at his mom and she’d run to the glass shouting, “Danny! Danny! Do you want to sit out?” Every time, his response was to shake his head ‘no.’ Every time, he’d continue on.

From cut to captain: Patrick Sgarlata’s road to Oregon hockey leadership

Now a graduate, the jersey he wears currently is a little different than before. He sports a number 10 on his back instead of his previous 26 and a “C” on his front. Sgarlata is now the captain of the team he struggled to make two years ago.
Oregon hockey sweeps Portland State over Halloween weekend

“There was definitely an improvement,” said goaltender Trevor Peterson of the second night compared to the first. “I think that PSU may not have played as well [the second night], but we also looked a lot better and a lot cleaner. We were a lot faster.”
Oregon hockey blows past Washington 7-2, sweeps I-5 Cup home games

In what usually are close games — last year’s cup was determined by a shootout after splitting the four-game series — the Ducks sailed through the Huskies’ defense, winning the two games 9-3 and 7-2.
Sulitzer brothers play together for the first and last time
Daily Emerald, Hockey, Stories & Features, University of OregonDan Sulitzer has played ice hockey for 20 years. His brother, Alex, has played for 17. However, despite both having played since the age of 5, they’ve never played together.
At least, until now.
Dan and Alex wanted to change the fact that they had never been on the same team, so late in the summer of 2012, they made a pact: they would both attend the University of Oregon and play for the Oregon club hockey team together in the fall.
